Now we come to the most important interchange in the chapter—verses 10–13. Ruth raises a question to Boaz that turns out to be very profound. It’s one that we all need to ask God. Hardly anything in our life is more important than the answer we get. “Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, ‘Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?’ ” (2:10). Ruth knows that she is a Moabitess.
